Launch date set for Qantas’ direct MEL/SFO service

Seats can now be booked on Qantas’ new direct Melbourne-San Francisco service. Operating four times weekly on B787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, the new service will launch on 1 September. From the same date, Qantas will reduce its Melbourne-Los Angeles Dreamliner services from six per week down to two. Passengers affected by the changes will be offered alternative departures. The carrier’s daily A380 services between Melbourne and LAX remain unchanged.

 

QantasLink gets A320s

QantasLink is adding two A320s to its fleet from April. They will be operated by Network Aviation (branded as QantasLink) on key routes within Western Australia that service the resources market.

 

New Qantas codeshare

Qantas has added a new codeshare operation. From 17 May to 27 September, Airnorth’s direct Darwin-Broome route will operate with flight numbers QF2672/QF2673 up to three times weekly, in addition to Qantas’ own QF2670/QF2671 service, which operates via Kununurra.

 

New SQ A380 routes

Singapore Airlines’ new A380 aircraft will operate on its London and Hong Kong routes from 16 February. The superjumbos feature the carrier’s revamped cabin product, which debuted on its Sydney route in December last year.

 

Emirates aircraft rejig

Emirates plans to switch aircraft on its Dubai-Brisbane route. From June until late August, the carrier will operate a B777-300ER on flights EK434/435 instead of the usual A380. While from March, flights EK430/431 will also use a B77-300ER instead of the B777-200LP currently operating those services.

 

Embassy Suites NYC Midtown

A new Embassy Suites by Hilton branded property has opened in New York. The Embassy Suites by Hilton New York Midtown Manhattan is located near Times Square and Fifth Avenue. The property features 310 studio suites and king rooms, three restaurants, a fitness centre, boardroom and flexible event spaces catering for up to 150 guests.


Emirates service relaunch

Emirates will resume flights between Dubai and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Effective from June, the carrier will operate a three-class B777-300ER aircraft on the route five times weekly.

 

St. Regis Hong Kong

Marriott International plans to open a new property in Hong Kong. The 129-room St. Regis Hong Kong in scheduled to open in early 2019, with features including a restaurant, 320-seat banquet hall, and heated swimming pool.

 

New ibis for Dubai

AccorHotels has plans for a new Dubai property. The 252-room ibis Dubai Jumeirah Village Circle is expected to open in 2021. Located 20 minutes from Downtown Dubai, it will feature an all-day restaurant, cafe, fitness centre, meeting room and car park.


New Radisson Blu Vienna

Radisson Blu has opened a second hotel in the Austrian capital. The Radisson Blu Park Royal Palace Hotel, which is located next to the city’s Schonbrunn Palace, offers 233 rooms, an all-day restaurant, a bar, fitness centre and executive lounge as well as a range of meeting and events spaces.
